Sophie & Chip | The Mount Somerset, Taunton

he day finally arrived to see Sophie & Chip get married. I had been looking forward to capturing their wedding for quite some time and as my first wedding of 2018, I was eager to get back into wedding season.  I was really excited to be photographing what I ready knew would be a great day. Throughout 2016/2017 I had seen Sophie & Chip at numerous friends weddings that I had been photographing. It became a bit of a private joke that we kept bumping into each other. With Sophie’s warm and friendly personality and Chip’s fun-loving approach, I secretly hoped when their engagement was announced they would book me. And they did!

In the run-up to the wedding, I had quite a few chats with Chip on the telephone over a cup of coffee whilst he was secretly organising surprises for Sophie. I loved how involved he was in making sure Sophie had her perfect day. The ceremony took place in the recently refurbished St John’s Church in Staplegrove and the first ceremony ever to take place over Easter weekend. A traditional service among lovely family and friends to officially seal the deal as man and wife. The reception celebration was hosted at The Mount Somerset. With its high ceilings, sweeping spiral staircase, opulent decor and a feeling of gentle elegance and luxury, The Mount Somerset has all the characteristics of a quintessential English Regency mansion. However, I loved the additional marquee Sophie & Chip had for the afternoon meal which was perfect for the relaxed setting of the speeches and number of guests. I always love the speeches but these were exceptional and really made the audience laugh.

We had concerns about the weather, however, it’s the UK and we have no control. One promise I always make to all my couples is that no matter what the weather, I will capture beautiful photographs. I knew this couple had every faith in me and we were lucky it remained dry for the duration of the day. Sometimes you just have to have faith.

Here are a few photographs from Mr & Mrs Chedzoy’s beautiful wedding. Enjoy x
