Not all bride’s employ a makeup artist for their wedding day. However, a good makeup artist can help to make a bride feel beautiful all day and confident in front of the camera. It can also play a major factor in creating the overall look and style the bride wants to achieve to complement her dress. This week, makeup artist Annabel reveals the trends for 2018, beauty tips and her advice to bride-to-be.
What are the make-up trends for 2018?
2018 the trends on the catwalk are beautiful; from a bold red lip, a wash of bronzed shadow on the eyes, to a metallic liner across the top lash line. Smokey greys can be seen smudged across the eye to create a sultry sexy look.
Skin is an absolute favourite of mine, a fresh face and glowing skin is always a favourite for brides.
Looking radiant and glowing is a must when it’s one of the biggest days of your life!
Can you tell us how you work with your client to create a look which will suit them?
Every bride will have a consultation to meet their needs and to create a look they love.
I take everything into consideration when working with my brides, from the style of their big day to the colours she and her bridal party are wearing.
This will make sure that not only do you have a timeless beauty look, but you’ll also harmonise perfectly with the rest of the day.
What top tips would you give to a bride looking for a makeup artist?
I think a good recommendation is always super helpful and will give you more confidence in the MUA you book for your wedding makeup.
Do your research, look at their websites and photo galleries to see if you like the looks and styles the artists have showcased.
Social media is a strong and powerful tool to look at artists work too.
You can always suggest meeting up with the makeup artist to discuss your wedding makeup needs before booking.
What is your favourite make-up tips that can be used by all women?
Less is more. I really believe in enhancing your natural beauty and not over-loading with too many products, working with your best features to make the most of you is always the key to a blushing bride.
What are the most favourite products that you’re never found without?
Face & Body Foundation
High lightening pens
My brushes are my absolute favourite, couldn’t be without them!
What advice would you give to a bride doing their own wedding make-up?
Practice practice practice!!
Make sure you give yourself enough time to practice and perfect the look your after, giving you the confidence in doing it.
Give yourself plenty of time in the morning of your wedding so you’re relaxed.
If you never wear a red lip day to day, please don’t on your wedding day. The same applies if you wear a bold lip daily and decide to completely change your look on your wedding day; you won’t feel like yourself.
Your wedding makeup isn’t a time to experiment with your style.
